At Soaperstar, we want our customers to know what they're buying before they buy it - we have no hidden shocks in store for you and we lovingly produce each product as if we were making it for ourselves.  None of our products are tested on animals and not one single thing hasn't met with our merry band of testers approval.  In the spirit of this, below is a listing of the main ingredients used in our products so that you can be aware what you're using on your skin and know why we choose these ingredients for you.  We want you to experience the luxury skin feel that you will get from our products in the safe knowledge that our soaps contain only good and nice things for you and your skin!

First, however, a quick note about labelling - under EU cosmetic directives, all producers of cosmetics (including soap) must list all their ingredients in order of percentage amount in each product. Each ingredient must be listed by the INCI name (this is a short way to say a long title - the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients - you can see why they shortened it!); in our listing (and, of course, on our labels), below we include both the "normal" and the INCI name for your information.

Glycerine (INCI: Glycerin):  Do you ever wonder why your skin can be so dry even though you've purchases numerous soaps and shower gels specifically to make your skin softer? Despite their advertising, it could be these very products that are the problem.  Often, industrially manufactured soaps, as we know them, are actually made of petroleum by-products and are, in fact, merely simple detergents.

However, glycerine based soaps, such as the type that Soaperstar specialise in, contain a high percentage of glycerine - this ia natural humectant which means that it draws moisture into your skin, thereby allowing it to remain hydrated and soft.  These soaps are excellent for any type of skin (even oily skin needs to remain moisturised) but they are particularly good for sensitve, mature and dry skin.

Golden Jojoba Oil (INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis):  Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-bah) oil is really a wax which is liquid at room temperature. It has a very similar makeup to skin's own sebum and is one of the most easily absorbed oils available. This oil is particularly good for anyone with sensitive skin, including psoriasis and eczema. It's also a good choice in helping to balance oily skin conditions and for irritated skin. We use this oil in a lot of our soaps because it is so close to your skin's own oils and because it is suitable for a large range of skin types.

Lamesoft PO65 (INCI: Coco-Glucoside (and) Glyceryl Oleate) This might sound like some terrifyingly chemical combination that will wreck havoc with your skin - actually, the opposite is true. Lamesoft is an ultra mild, water soluble emollient (a substance that softens and soothes the skin) that is 100% plant derived from Coconut and Sunflower Oil. It has two active ingredients that you'll note listed on our labelling, Coco Glucoside (from the coconut oil) and Glyceryl Oleate (from the sunflower oil). It is also an Ecocert (organic certification organisation) registered gentle skin care additive that has been designed to improve skin feel. At the levels we use, this additive gives a perceivable skin softness and smoothness. It also imparts an extra creaminess to all our Soaperstar lathers.

Sweet Almond Oil (INCI: Prunus Dulcis) Sweet Almond Oil is pressed from the kernels of the sweet almond fruit and it is one of the most popular bases for cosmetic and skin use. This is due to the fact that it is high in active ingredients and rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2 and B6. It is particularly beneficial if you suffer from any dry skin conditions especially itchiness, eczema and psoriasis. It has fantastic emollient properties and it a light oil that penetrates and sinks into your skin very easily. You can actually use it neat as a natural moisturiser but imagine its capabilities when mixed with other skin loving ingredients!

Apricot Kernel Oil (INCI: Prunus Americana):  Apricot Kernel Oil is contains vitamin A, various of the B vitamins and vitamin E, which is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants helping to combat the emergence of free radicals and other damaging elements in the skin making apricot kernel oil particularly suited for nourishing the skin and moisturising eczema.
